Pee Wee Gaskins Wakili Indonesia Di ASEAN

Peewee Gaskins bakalan jadi perwakilan Indonesia di ASEAN tapi bukan buat ikutan SEA GAMES atau pertandingan olahraga.
Tapi Peewee Gaskins jadi perwakilan Indonesia di ajang tingkat Asia Tenggara yaitu ASEAN Youth Cultural Exchange Programme pada bulan Mei 2011 mendatang.
Ini merupakan salah satu ajang bergengsi di tingkat Asia Tenggara menampilkan artis-artis lain dari negara anggota ASEAN. Pee Wee Gaskins merasa sangat terhormat untuk bisa mengikuti program ini.
Mudah-mudahan Pee Wee Gaskins bisa membawa keseruan ke tingkat lebih tinggi lagi.
Well Peewee Gaskins. Harumkan dan buat Indonesia menjadi BANGGA dan Meraih Prestise di ASEAN.

BIOGRAPHY

THE STORY SO FAR: In the two years since it was formed (Mid 2007), Pee Wee Gaskins, a pop-punk group based in Jakarta, has rapidly leapt from the indie scene to the mainstream. With a single full-length album under its belt, the band has been featured in numerous magazines, including Hai, Rolling Stone Indonesia and Trax, as well as appearing on TV shows like O Channel's Demo and MTV Indonesia. The band took its name from Donald ''Pee Wee'' Gaskins, who gained notoriety in 1991 for being the first white man in more than half a century to be executed in the United States for killing a black man. In an attempt to stay out of the electric chair, Gaskins confessed to more than 100 murders, though he never revealed the locations of the bodies. Pee Wee Gaskins began as a solo project for the vocalist, bassist and main songwriter, Dochi Sadega, while he was still playing guitar for metal band The Side Project. ''Two years ago I had an acoustic song called 'Here Up on the Attic,' which I had written for a friend, who eventually became my girlfriend,'' Dochi said. ''She said, 'Hey this sounds nice -- why don't you write more stuff?' So I began looking for band members [after quitting The Side Project],'' he said. Dochi recruited guitarist Sansan first. The two had musician friends in common and had, for a brief time, been in the same band: Killing Me Inside, with Dochi on guitar and Sansan on vocals. The first thing they did was pick a name. ''One day we were chatting on the Internet trying to come up with a band name, and Sansan mentioned wanting to name it 'Serial Killer,'?'' Dochi said. ''We wanted a scary name, but the music we were going to play wasn't exactly scary, so when we Googled 'serial killer' and the name Pee Wee Gaskins came up, it felt like the perfect amalgamation of our pop tendencies and something that was inherently terrifying,'' Dochi said. The pair then recruited musicians Aldy ''Mustache'' on drums, Ai on guitar and Omo on keyboard and synthesizers. By late 2007, the newly formed band was performing at a lot of low or nonpaying events. Before long, it was headlining these shows, as well as performing as guest stars at high-school bazaars, where it built its fan base. By 2008, Pee Wee Gaskins was thriving, with appearances on TV shows such as RCTI's ''Dashyat'' and SCTV's ''Playlist.'' It was also featured on the soundtrack for the movie ''Married by Accident,'' which starred Nikita Willy. In April 2008, the band released its debut EP, ''Stories From Our High School Years,'' through the independent record label Kurd Records. The 2,000 copies of the EP quickly sold out. Dochi said: ''We used the Internet to promote it, and sold it hand-to-hand. We did the distribution ourselves. Total DIY!'' Between 2008 and 2009, Pee Wee Gaskins really took off. Fans, calling themselves Party Dorks, helped promote the band through the Internet and by dropping flyers. The Party Dorks were so spread out across Indonesia that there were local divisions such as Party Dorks Bali and Party Dorks Semarang. But the band's quick rise to the top was also met with disdain by other groups of music fans, who began calling themselves the Anti Pee Wee Gaskins, or APWG for short. Like the Party Dorks, the APWG community also grew quickly, with young people building Facebook communities where they could chat about how much they hated the band. There were also numerous subgroups, including APWG Makassar, APWG Surabaya and so on. APWG has never officially stated its intentions, nor the reason for its hatred. Online discussions do little to illuminate the motivations of members. Juan, an APWG supporter, simply wrote on the APWG discussion board on Facebook that he ''hates the band'' because they are ''homos, arrogant, ungrateful of their fans, copycats.'' Well, they certainly haven't met the boys yet, it's far from all those craps. At a show in Surabaya, a group of APWG members came to a Pee Gaskins show simply to collectively raise their middle finger throughout the band's set. So much negativity would bother most bands, but Dochi seems to take it all in stride. Facing the Surabaya audience of thousands, with hundreds of them flipping him the bird, he said from the stage, ''You guys are still young, don't hesitate to voice your opinion about us. We have come to make friends and have fun.'' Early 2009, the band released its first full-length album, ''The Sophomore,'' which was released through a larger independent label called Variant Records. The album has reportedly sold more than 4,000 copies in two months. A fact that makes Dochi happy, but not quite content. ''If you are feeling satisfied, you are bound to rest on your laurels. Then again, never feeling satisfied makes us complainers. Simply put, we are always trying to push ourselves as far as we can.'' As the story goes, the band is now preparing for their 3rd release on its senior year, Ad Astra Per Aspera, ''to the stars with all we've got'' in Latin.

INILAH.COM, Jakarta - Band pop punk Pee Wee Gaskins merayakan HUT keempat. Rencananya, Dochi dkk akan merayakan ulang tahun dengan berkemah bersama penggemar.
"Tanggal 30 April 2011 adalah acara puncak, rencananya akan berkemah bareng fans di Ragunan. Kita pengen ada kebersamaan ama fans juga," ungkap Dochi mewakili personel Pee Wee Gaskins saat menggelar acara syukuran di Tebet, Jakarta Selatan, Senin (11/4).
Band pop punk yang beranggotakan Alditsa Sadega/dochi (basis, vokal), Fauzan (gitar, vokal), Reza Satiri (Synthesizer), Renaldy Prasetya (drum) dan Harry Pramahardhika (gitar) membuat ultah keempat ini, dengan tema Fantastic 4.
"Alhamdulillah masih bisa terus berkarya. Dan kami masih semangat. Banyak pelajaran yang kita dapat. Dari semua orang yang kita temui, banyak banget kritik yang kami terima. Kita jadi makin tegar aja, bisa terus jalan sampai sekarang," papar Dochi.
Ia menambahkan perjalanan Pee Wee Gaskins hingga memasuki tahun keempat banyak memberi perubahan dalam segi bermusik.
"Ya, selama empat tahun ini kami lebih merasa lebih baik dari segi musikalitas. Dapat saran banget dari musisi senior yang kita temui," tandasnya. [

4. belajar byk ttg managing your own band & dealing with media people di TSP
5. gw keluar dr TSP 2006 krn "perang ego" disana, dan waktu itu gw lg di Singapur hampir sebulan
6. pulang dr Singapur gw ngerasa gak punya tmn, krn waktu itu gw abis diadu domba sm temen sndiri gara2 mslh simpel: cewe
gw heran, dari smp gw terkenal sering masalah gara2 cewe, entah itu deket sm cewe orang, deket sm banyak cewe sebelum akhirnya beneran pacaran, atau apalah, tp ada aja org tolol yg blg gw gay
7. akhirnya gw ngabisin hari2 gw sm sahabat gw, kebetulan rumahnya deket, dan dia cewe (jadi betah main lama2)

16. pada waktu itu gw lebih nyaman bantu2 temen gw, males bikin band lg, waktu itu gw bantuin Killing Me Inside
kalo salah satu dari gitaris mereka gabisa manggung, gw yg gantiin (waktu itu formasinya masih Josaphat & Raka)
17. ketemu tmn2 lama gw di sebuah venue waktu gw manggung brg Killms dan gw dgr mrk nanya gini "masih aja lo main sm dochi"
18. dari situ gw lgsg kepikiran utk bikin proyek bales dendam. gw harus bikin band lagi.
19. org pertama yg gw ajak di "proyek bales dendam" ini adalah @choasansan krn gw paling deket sm dia dari dulu
20. gw gak mau @choasansan cuma nyanyi, jd gw ajak dia dgn syarat dia harus main gitar
21. gw juga gak mau kalo proyek ini terdengar sama ky yg lain, jd konsep dasarnya adalah no scream, no double pedal
22. akhirnya gw putuskan lagu2nya adalah pengembangan dari Here Up On The Attic. catchy, pop-punkish, teenish
23. akhirnya gw tes vokal @choasansan di lagu kedua yg gw tulis, Remember The Titans
24. gw dan @choasansan mulai merekrut pejuang2 lain, masuklah @rezaomo
25. @rezaomo adlh satu2nya org yg gw kenal yg jago bgt main keyboard, gw pertama kenal dia waktu gw brg Killms di News Cafe
dulu omo juga aktif nerima kerjaan organ tunggal, bahkan dia pernah ngisi acara sunatan temennya ade gw
26. pertama kali gw kenal @rezaomo gw minjem pick gitar dia krn gw lupa bawa pick
selain jago main keyboard si omo juga jago main gitarnya
27. krn gw gak deket sm @rezaomo, satu2nya cara ajak dia gabung adlh ngajak gabung Tlor yg kebetulan seband sm dia, Tlor dl jg di TSP
28. gw kasih denger Remember The Titans ke @rezaomo & Tlor, mereka setuju gabung

32. @davifrisya waktu itu msh sklh di malaysia jd kita beberapa kali pake drummer cabutan, sampe akhirnya kenal @aldykumis
33. hub gw sm band2 lain yg bersangkutan sm PWG baik, Killms, Too Late To Notice, Kacang Mede
34. gak disangka, dgn segala pengalaman dan pengetahuan yg gw dapet, proyek bales dendam ini berjalan sgt mulus
35. dan tentunya berkat temen2 yg solid, semangat yg gak gak pernah pudar, PWG jalan terus

44. @ayimahardhika aslinya main gitar, tp dia "rela" jadi bassist buat PWG, pdhl dia termasuk org yg ngremehin gw dulu hehe
sejak album Ad Astra Per Aspera, ayi kembali main gitar biar jiwa gitarisnya lebih terpakai, dan gw pun senang dapet tantangan baru: ngulik main bass
45. emng bener yg namanya "tak kenal maka tak sayang" ternyata gw sm @ayimahardhika cepet akrab
46. intinya, gw berterimakasih bgt ternyata proyek bales dendam gw ngajarin gw banyak hal dan ngerubah pola pikir gw dalam banyak hal
